Gengo is a crowdsourced translation service based in Japan, while Linqapp is a language-exchange app in Taipei that started with English and Chinese.īut translation tech experts believe the machine learning developments will snowball and catch up to human abilities in just one or two years. Flitto, a Korean-made translation network app popular in Southeast Asia, launched a free real-time text translation service, which suggests related phrases based on its data from five years of translation requests.įor now, human-translated services may still be the fool-proof option. On top of Google Translate and Papago, another Korean software company Hancom, which makes a word processor, recently launched its NMT app " Genie Talk " that translates between popular Asian languages, plus English, French, Spanish, German, Russian and Arabic. That was some short-lived relief for South Korea, which hosted the human-versus-machine Go contest last year that put our mortal species to shame. At a human-versus-AI translation tournament in Seoul last week, humans dominated the competition. While translation tech is catching up fast, it's not ready to put humans out of business-yet. Meanwhile, Papago may have heard this one before, but still stumbles: Google Translate is a multilingual neural machine translation service developed by Google to translate text, documents and websites from one language into another. It seems that this app uses algorithms for Russian language instead of Ukrainian because there are no such letters in Russian, even if the alphabets are pretty. Google Translate starts off well, but gets confused with Kang’s name (also the word for river) before crashing and burning at the end. It means: The factory manager of the soy sauce plant is factory manager Kang, and the factory manager of the soybean plant is factory manager Jang. Getting into tongue twisters that screw up the best of us, every Korean learner comes across this monster, pronounced “kanjang kongjangjangeun kang kongjangjangigo, doenjang kongjangjangeun jang kongjangjangida.” Go for it. Papago makes some stuff up, declaring "From 19 fat people rich" in Chinese. On the bright side, Google translates correctly back into the idiom’s original language: Chinese to Korean yields the nonsensical “ten, nine abundant fats,” while English is, at least, straightforward: Our active and passive voice converter is specifically designed to make you sound more formal and professional in your speech and writing. You can use this tool to make your text look professional and formal by easily and quickly editing it. On the other hand, if you use formal language and complex phrases and speak exclusively in the third person, you may establish a more formal and professional presence. For instance, your friends will always enjoy a lively story in a casual language however, your teacher or boss may not like it. Sometimes the term Personal Passive is used in English lessons if the indirect object of an active sentence is to become the subject of the passive sentence. The writing style is determined by the words and phrases you use and how you construct your sentences. The rest of the sentence is added using an infinitive construction with 'to' (certain auxiliary verbs and that are dropped). The subject of the subordinate clause (women) goes to the beginning of the sentence the verb of perception is put into passive voice. – Women are said to live longer than men. – It is said that women live longer than men.Īlthough Impersonal Passive is possible here, Personal Passive is more common.Įxample: They say that women live longer than men. say, think, know).Įxample: They say that women live longer than men. In English, Impersonal Passive is only possible with verbs of perception ( e. g. Impersonal Passive is not as common in English as in some other languages (e.g. If you want to use an intransitive verb in passive voice, you need an impersonal construction – therefore this passive is called Impersonal Passive. Verbs without an object (intransitive verb) normally cannot form a personal passive sentence (as there is no object that can become the subject of the passive sentence). So every verb that needs an object (transitive verb) can form a personal passive.Įxample: They build houses. Personal Passive simply means that the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence. Which object to transform into a subject depends on what you want to put the focus on.Īs you can see in the examples, adding by Rita does not sound very elegant. For example, a product may contain both a stool softener and a stimulant laxative. This type of laxative has been said not to cause a bowel movement but instead allows the patient to have a bowel movement without straining.Ĭombinations-There are many products that you can buy for constipation that contain more than one type of laxative. Stool softeners (emollients)-Stool softeners encourage bowel movements by helping liquids mix into the stool and prevent dry, hard stool masses. One of the stimulant laxatives, dehydrocholic acid, may also be used for treating certain conditions of the biliary tract. However, they also are more likely to cause side effects. Stimulant laxatives are a popular type of laxative for self-treatment. They increase the muscle contractions that move along the stool mass. Stimulants-Stimulant laxatives, also known as contact laxatives, encourage bowel movements by acting on the intestinal wall. The stool remains soft and its passage is made easier. Lubricants-Lubricant laxatives, such as mineral oil, taken by mouth encourage bowel movements by coating the bowel and the stool mass with a waterproof film. It is used for short periods of time to treat constipation. The polymer type is a polyglycol (polyethylene glycol), a large molecule that causes water to be retained in the stool this will soften the stool and increase the number of bowel movements. It is available only with your doctor's prescription. Lactulose may sometimes be used in the treatment of certain medical conditions to reduce the amount of ammonia in the blood. However, it produces results much more slowly and is often used for long-term treatment of chronic constipation. The lactulose type is a special sugar-like laxative that works the same way as the saline type. Sodium phosphate may also be prescribed for other conditions as determined by your doctor. The information that follows applies only to their use as laxatives. With smaller doses than those used for the laxative effect, some saline laxatives are used as antacids. They are not used for long-term or repeated correction of constipation. The saline type is often called "salts." They are used for rapid emptying of the lower intestine and bowel. There are three types of hyperosmotic laxatives taken by mouth-the saline, the lactulose, and the polymer types: This provides a soft stool mass and increased bowel action. Hyperosmotics-Hyperosmotic laxatives encourage bowel movements by drawing water into the bowel from surrounding body tissues. Some bulk-forming laxatives, like psyllium and polycarbophil, may be prescribed by your doctor to treat diarrhea. The bowel is then stimulated normally by the presence of the bulky mass. The different types of oral laxatives include:īulk-formers-Bulk-forming laxatives are not digested but absorb liquid in the intestines and swell to form a soft, bulky stool. Since directions for use are different for each type, it is important to know which one you are taking. There are several different types of oral laxatives and they work in different ways. A subsequent search for "Shiba Inu" returned identical numbers, but different content. There were two Shiba Inu cams, one eagle cam, a drawing program, a local news broadcast and a show about computers. A search for "Shiba Inu" (Ustream's most popular broadcast is the Shiba Inu puppy cam, with, as of May 2009, close to 15 million total page views) brought up only six results. To complicate matters further, the broadcasters who create the shows are the ones to source and tag the programs, and they often link wildly inaccurate search tags to their broadcasts in the hopes of attracting more viewers. Its results are sporadic and indicate that Ustream has no ability to weed out content not related to a specific search. Ustream's service, however, is not without its downsides, the most obvious of which is its inconsistent internal search engine. Diddy frequenting New York night clubs, you'll probably find someone or something that catches your interest. (Ashton Kutcher hosts a one-man show where he cracks jokes and replies to comments from viewers, and Snoop Dogg chats with his audience and basically just smokes marijuana.) Regardless of whether you're watching the Jonas Brothers read letters from their fans or P. Ashton Kutcher, Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus and Perez Hilton all broadcast shows of one kind or another. Many celebrities, from A to Z-list status, use Ustream to promote their projects and connect with fans. Political candidates are not the only famous people who frequent Ustream, however. Still, Ustream was the most popular choice, as more than half (3.8 million) used the service for the event. It also paved the way for the 7.7 million people who streamed President Barack Obama's Inaugural Address in January 2009, although there were multiple Web sites providing live streams for that event, not just Ustream. It was a huge event for Ustream, and aside from giving a massive traffic boost to the site, it helped many people understand the differences between Ustream's live, streaming service and a prerecorded video outlet like YouTube. They watched the RNC proceedings directly from the Ustream site, individual blogs, their MySpace or Facebook pages as well as countless various news and political Web sites. But the biggest boost for Ustream came from the Republican National Convention (RNC) in September.Īpproximately 7 million people watched the RNC conference via Ustream. Just about every candidate running for president broadcasted from Ustream at some point during their race, from Barack Obama and John McCain to Libertarian candidate Mike Gravel. In 2008, for example, Ustream went political, and it was a huge success. However, chats are optional, and some broadcasters may choose to avoid them completely. By granting hosts and their viewers so much freedom to interact, Ustream fosters the creation of interactive online communities, and broadcasts have the ability to become uniquely intimate, engaging events for everybody involved. These chatting options provide Ustream users with an open forum, allowing them to communicate with each other and the broadcaster in real time. People can also use their Twitter IDs to log in to ongoing social streams by clicking the "T Social Stream" button on the top of the chat box. During a broadcast, viewers may have the choice to chat in a standard IRC (Internet relay chat) instant message format, similar to AIM or GTalk. The most common form of interaction between a host and his or her audience is through the various chat and messaging options Ustream provides. Individual audience members can communicate directly with the host and each other in a variety of ways, which means that the viewers of a show can actually influence the direction of its content. Ustream was founded with the idea of bringing people together, so it's not surprising that it provides an interactive experience for its users. This is in a really open with a lot of player spawn points but your new frenemy makes it easier to defend. It is a large rust-colored gate that heads into the powerplant beyond the northwestern wall. It is located on the northwestern side of the map halfway between the RUAF roadblock and the UN Roadblock. If you manage to find a player from the other team that won’t shoot you on sight this is a pretty useful extraction point. Scav’s have the same requirement and need a PMC ally to use the gate. PMC players need to make friends with a scav to be able to exit through the gate. Factory Gate (ALL)- This extraction point can technically be used by everyone but it requires a bit of work.Try to skirt wide of the cabin overlook or the scav house because there are bound to be players and scavs there looking for people trying to extract. Eventually, you will start heading out of the map and hit a small roadblock but the extraction point will have already triggered by then. Just follow the main road north past scav house and don’t stop. Outskirts (ALL)- This extraction point is on the east side of the map at the northernmost point. There is a duffle bag in the bag of the pickup at this extraction point that can be looted. It can only be used if there is a flare emitting green smoke at the roadblock. RUAF Roadblock (ALL)- This extraction point is on the opposite end of the road from the UN roadblock. The big problem with this extract is that it takes a full minute for the extraction leaving you in one of the most open areas of the map. This extraction point can only be used once per raid and only four players can be taken at a time. Pay the driver and the extraction point will activate. This extraction point will cost 3000 rubles. You will notice a running black car parked inside the gate. South Vehicle Exit (ALL)- This extraction point is south of the lumber mill and just east of the mountain. The extraction point is only accessible if the green light above the locked door is lit. This bunker requires a key found on Customs in dorm 220. Just hug the eastern wall and head north away from the eastern gate.
